A Licensed Mortgage Broker has the resources of many lenders, including banks and mortgage companies, to offer a variety of products, with wholesale pricing to individuals. The benefit to a consumer is that they can use one person to shop a variety of loans and loan programs.

What is a Direct Lender?

Direct lenders are Banks, Savings and Loans and other financial institutions who make loans directly to consumers using their financial resources. A loan representative works for a specific company and only makes loans offered by his company. The benefit to the consumer is that fees are often cheaper. If you are a long term customer of the institution you may be able to negotiate a better rate or reduction in closing costs. This is often true if you set up a direct deposit account.
